Public Health Department is making efforts to get the maximum number of people inoculated. They have decided to take the help of the Pujaris and Hakims (those who practice traditional medicine) to create awareness among villagers on the importance of getting fully vaccinated.

Many people are still left to get vaccinated; therefore, officers from the public health department recently held a meeting with Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. They conducted a meeting to discuss ways in which they can sensitise people about the mass immunization programme.

The Director of the health service, Dr Archana Patil, said that many people in rural Maharashtra are resisting taking a second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine; hence they are urging local leaders to request people to get inoculated. District health officials claim that since the curve is flattening, people residing in rural areas avoid getting fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, in cities, civic health officials are taking the help of actors to create awareness, especially in slums. On Sunday, October 24, Dr Gautam Bhansali, in charge of coronavirus beds in private hospitals and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), organised a vaccine awareness camp in Dharavi. They invited actor Sonu Sood for the same. Moreover, the same day, Sunday, Maharashtra had recorded a 75-week low COVID-19 numbers.
