The editorial piece in Saamana has stated that citizens should maintain self-discipline in order to avoid restrictions amidst rising number of COVID-19 cases.

In view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana has warned of a lockdown or imposing strict measures in order to battle the resurgence across the city of Mumbai.

Moreover, the editorial stated that citizens should maintain self-discipline in order to avoid restrictions. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, March 9, Mumbai’s guardian minister Aslam Shaikh stated that a decision on imposing restrictions or lockdown in the metropolitan city will soon be taken by local authorities further adding that in a meeting on Monday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray instructed the municipal corporation and the collector to decide on the imposition of lockdown.

On the other hand, Thane’s civic body, Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) on March 9 announced a lockdown till March 31 amidst the rise in cases of coronavirus. According to reports, the lockdown is to remain in effect across 16 hotspots in the city. Moreover, all the restrictions that were in place during the nationwide lockdown declared earlier post the outbreak of the coronavirus would be in force this time as well. Later, they changed their stand and said there were only restrictions imposed and not a complete lockdown in these containment zones. 

The Kalwa Ward Committee area in Circle 1 has hotspots in areas of Witwa, Ainagar, Suryanagar, Kharegaon, Chendni Koliwara, Wagle and Srinagar. Circle 2 has hotspots in areas of Lodha Amara, Hiranandani Estate, Hiranandani Meadows Housing Complex and Lokmanya. Savarkarnagar Ward Committee Area hotspots are at Dostanagar, Shivai Nagar, Chorus Tower, Kolabad and Rustomji Vrindavan. However, activities will be allowed in areas outside hotspots, as per relaxation given under Mission Begin Again by the Maharashtra government.
