The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation has set up a special booth for the vaccination of citizens between 18 to 44 years from May 1, 2021, between 1 PM to 5 PM on the first floor of Meenatai Thackeray Hospital, Sector 15, Nerul.

Meanwhile, a pre-registration on the Co-Win portal of the Government of India is mandatory for the vaccination for all above 18. A total of 38 centres are currently under scrutiny for the establishment of new vaccination booths, informed NMMC. The health department is planning to start the vaccination centres at these hospitals soon.

Moreover, NMMC Commissioner Abhijit Bangar has urged all eligible citizens to register themselves and get vaccinated.

According to the government directive, vaccination centres are to be set up only in the form of hospitals, health centres if the required space, manpower and other ancillary facilities are being provided. Therefore, citizens above 18 years of age are likely to face a large crowd when vaccination starts.

Hence, the commissioner had suggested that the medical authorities should take initiative to set up vaccination centres in a maximum number of health institutions to increase the daily number of inoculation and to avoid inconvenience and overcrowding in any way.

The municipality has set a target of 10,000 vaccinations per day. On the other hand, as the centre of the private hospital will be closed and the responsibility of vaccination in that hospital lies with the private hospital, the municipality has decided to expand its centre and provide vaccination protection to a maximum number of citizens.
