Sunil Tatkare and Ramdas Athawale test positive for Coronavirus

Union Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale has tested positive for coronavirus. Along with him, Nationalist Congress Party MP from Raigad Sunil Tatkare has also tested positive. Both the leaders took to their social media to share this news and also urged people who have come in contact with them in the recent past to get themselves tested. 

Taking to his Twitter, Sunil Tatkare wrote in Marathi, "Yesterday I had gone to get a test done for Corona and today my reports are positive. I am in good health and have been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai as a precautionary measure. With the goodwill and blessings of all of you, I will return to your service as soon as possible". 

Dr Ramdas Athwale too took to Twitter to inform people that he had tested positive. In his tweet, he mentioned that his coronavirus test has come back positive. He will get admitted to a hospital as a precautionary measure and will be following the advice of the doctors. Everyone that has come in contact with him recently should get themselves tested. He also mentioned that all his scheduled events now stand cancelled. 

It is noteworthy that Athawale on Monday had attended a crowded function. In this function actresses Payal Ghosh, Soni Kanishka, lawyer Nitin Satpute, realtor Yogesh Karkera and businessman Ankush Chaphekar had formally joined the Republican Party of India (A).  

Earlier this week, State Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar, informed that he has tested positive for Coronavirus. Pawar is the 16th member of Uddhav Thackeray’s council of ministers to be infected with COVID-19. Earlier, State Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant, Public Works Minister Ashok Chavan, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad, Urban Development Minister Eknath Shinde, Energy Minister Nitin Raut, Mumbai City Guardian Minister Aslam Sheikh, Sunil Kedar, Varsha Gaikwad, Vishwajeet Kadam, Dhananjay Munde, Jitendra Awhad, Abdul Sattar, Balasaheb Patil, Hasan Mushrif and Sanjay Bansode, all of them had tested positive for the contagious disease.

On Sunday, RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das on Sunday said he had tested positive for Coronavirus. Apart from the Governor, last week, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis had tested positive for the coronavirus.
