Thane reported 720 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths on Thursday, March 4, taking the total number of cases in the district up to 2,67,630. There are 6,762 active cases and 2,54,578 patients have completely recovered so far.

The death toll in Thane has now reached 6,290 in the district with four new deaths reported in the last 24 hours. While the recovery rate stands at 95.12 per cent while the mortality rate is 2.36 per cent.

As many as 46,159 COVID-19 cases and 1,205 deaths were reported in Palghar district.

On Thursday, March 4, Maharashtra recorded 8,998 fresh cases of the novel coronavirus. This propelled the state's COVID-19 tally to 21,88,183. Currently, there are 85,144 active cases in the state. With 6,135 COVID-19 patients discharged in the day, the number of recovered soared to 20,49,484.

More than 60 people from the state have lost their lives to this disease in the last 24 hours while the total has now mounted to 52,340. While 3,91,288 persons are under home quarantine, 4,109 others have been admitted to institutional quarantine centres. The COVID-19 recovery rate and fatality rate in the state stand at 93.66 per cent, and 2.39 per cent respectively.

Meanwhile, India reported 16,838 new cases, 13,819 recoveries and 113 deaths taking the tally up to 1,11,73,761 on Thursday, March 4. According to the data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in total 1,08,39,894 have completely recovered. The death toll is at 1,57,548 in the country. At present, there are 1,76,319 active cases. So far, 1,80,05,503 healthcare and frontline workers have been vaccinated in the country.
