On Wednesday, November 17, Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope stated that to ensure more citizens get inoculated, they will be roping in celebrities and religious celebrities to curate awareness on COVID-19 vaccination, reported ANI.
Adding that they are in conversations to bring on celebrities like Bollywood actor Salman Khan for the awareness initiative.

Based on reports, Tope elucidated that whilst Maharashtra leads in terms of the number of vaccine doses administered, the speed is low in certain areas.
Tope added that over 10.25 cr COVID-19 vaccination jabs have been administered in Maharashtra so far. Further, he stated that all those eligible will have attained at least their first shot by the end of November.
He then went on to speak about the third wave of coronavirus and mentioned that according to experts, the pandemic has a seven-month cycle, but owing to the vaccination drive, the next wave will not be severe. However, he urged people to follow COVID-19 guidelines and get inoculated.
On the other hand, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar also elaborated on how when vaccination drives happened, there were religious apprehensions amongst a certain community. This resulted in a slight delay according to her. Pednekar believes that actors like Khan should encourage the community to get vaccinated and hopes that they take the jabs soon.
