Each year since 2006 on 17 May, the day is hosted as World Hypertension Day. According to a survey conducted by Wockhardt Hospital of Mumbai Central, more than 30 percent of adult males in Mumbai are suffering from this disease and many do not know about this disease for the initial 6 to 8 years.
Over the last few years, the number of people affected by this disease has increased. The reason behind people suffering from high blood pressure is the stress which they take to resolve their day-to-day problems which include job, conflict at the workplace and home. People working in the service sector are most likely to be affected by hypertension.
Dr Behram Pardiwala, the physician at Wockhardt Hospital, says that along with stress and tension, eating outside also has a big impact. This disease has been seen mostly in young people aged 30 years. Along with stress and discomfort, the biggest reason is not to eat food at the right time.
Dr Pardiwala also said that the pressure of work has increased on the people in today's changing world. The effect of high BP also affects the kidneys.
