The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to enable the smooth movement of traffic, safety of pedestrians, regularized parking and accessibility to all is looking to ameliorate the infrastructure in the city.

In light of this, they will enhance seven junctions, a section of the Andheri-Ghatkopar Link Road (AGLR) in the midst of the Western Expressway Highway (WEH) metro station and Sakinaka junction, reported the Hindustan Times.

Amongst the seven junctions, all of which are in the suburbs that will be improved by the civic body include, JVPD, JVLR-SV Road, Sai Star, the section between MG Road and SV Road, the Mathuradas-SV Road, and the Arya Samaj.

According to the report, tenders to appoint a contractor have recently been floated by the civic authority. The contractor will be expected to spearhead the project end-to-end which will entail the appointment of urban planners, horticulturists, architects and illumination experts.

Together, these experts will ideate proposals for the enhancement of footpaths, putting up of street furniture, curating parking space, bus stops and lighting under the metro slab on the AGLR. However, the final design will be sanctioned by the BMC.

Based on the approved designs, contractors will be expected to carry out the work. It is believed that the approximate cost of the scheme is INR 25 crore.

It is stated to be conceptualized by Maharashtra cabinet minister, Aaditya Thackeray. Money for the project will be taken from the District Planning and Development Committee (DPDC) of the Mumbai suburbs.
