On Monday, July 18, a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) team visited the site where a day before residents of two buildings in Marine Drive complained of vibrations during the high-tide hours last weekend, reports stated.

According to accounts, the residents wrote a letter to BMC Commissioner, Iqbal Singh Chahal as well as additional municipal commissioner Ashwini Bhide, who is also in charge of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project (MCRP) highlighting that the vibrations coincided with high-tide timings owing to the relocation of tetrapod because of the ongoing Coastal Road project

Based on narratives, the BMC assured that the tetrapods will be re-installed in the next two to three days when there is low tide. The civic body added that to ease the fears of citizens of the societies, it has asked the contractor to put the tetrapods back in place at the discussed location.

Reports highlight that on Monday, a representative team along with the civic staff visited the concerned south Mumbai location. An official was quoted in reports elaborating on how it was discussed that the cause of vibrations on Friday was high tide, high waves and gusty winds. The official added that on-site, vibration monitoring instruments are provided. In accordance with this, the readings recorded were normal. Nonetheless, the team visited the society premises and met with the society's office bearers. The residents, however, continue to believe that the vibrations which were related to the Coastal Road works were felt by almost all in the two buildings.

It has been reported that the resident's letter to the BMC elucidates how for the past few days, many residents of Shreeniketan and Gobind Mahal buildings have been feeling vibrations. The letter claimed that the vibrations come for a second in intervals of 30 to 60 minutes in the afternoon. They juxtaposed the vibrations with the tremors of an earthquake.

Tetrapods are also known as wave breakers are used to stop coastline erosion. Some of these were removed because of the prevalent Coastal Road project.
