Crawford Market will now include a 2-level basement parking by 2022. The restoration work was divided into two phases with phase one being complete, the second phase includes a basement parking, demolition of bazaar building, restoration of heritage market building, landscaping, fire-fighting system and solar energy system. The 2-level basement parking will make space for 198 vehicles and 20 trucks.

However, currently, the roads of Crawford market are congested due to the parking of these vehicles which are used to unload goods and the ever-bustling crowd shopping there. This construction of basement parking will be a sigh of relief in the problem of congestion.

Notably, Crawford Market is a Grade 1 heritage structure and therefore holds historical importance and no major structural changes can be done.
