The Maharashtra Animal Husbandry, Dairy, and Fisheries Department issued a notification on Monday that removes the clause to seek approval from the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for land transfer at Pahadi Goregaon’s (Aarey) Metro Bhavan.

The state government proposed the Metro Bhavan to be a common metro station or control centre for all 14 metro lines that are coming up in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The aforementioned notification goes on to mention that the State Urban Development Department had asked for an opinion from the Law Department for transferring the land over to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

When the State Revenue Department had transferred 8,000 square metres of land to the Urban Development Department in 2018, there was a pre-condition that the NGT’s approval would be sought. A state government official said that after the law department’s opinion and the request by the MMRDA, the clause has now been removed.
The state held online public hearings on the proposed Metro Bhavan a few months ago in a bid to get views from all perspectives. This complex is expected to be built within the Aarey colony. While the current Maharashtra Government cancelled the Metro 3 car shed project proposed for the region, it was relatively quiet on the status of the Metro Bhavan project.
