The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has taken the initiative to commission a study to build a coastal road in Thane, in an effort to address the rising traffic congestion in the region. The study will determine the feasibility and cost of constructing a six-lane road from Kharegaon to Anand Nagar Naka at Kopri.
As the city of Thane rapidly urbanised, traffic has become a major issue for residents. To combat this problem, the MMRDA has decided to build a new road to bypass the city and ease congestion. The project is expected to help reduce the number of accidents in Thane, as well as decrease travel time for commuters and the workload of traffic officials. Additionally, the signals in Thane will be reoriented for a better future.
