According to an official statement released by the Mumbai International Airport runway will be closed on October 18, 2022, for post-monsoon maintenance work intending to mitigate the possible inclement weather.
As one of the busiest airports in the country, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) prides itself for carrying out safe, efficient and seamless runway operations, owing to carefully planned and executed runway maintenance work all through the year.
Therefore, in order to continue with its superior airport operations, the Mumbai airport authorities have planned a runway closure on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, from 11:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs, for repair and maintenance work on both its runways - RWY 14/32 & 09/27. As part of its post monsoon preventive maintenance of runway intersection, major work like runway edge lights for runway 14/32, upgradation of AGL (Aeronautical ground lights), among other major tasks will be undertaken, the statement read.
With more than 800 flights landing and taking off each day, this yearly practice of runway maintenance post monsoons is part of the series of activities undertaken with precision and meticulous efforts ensuring operational continuity and passenger safety, thus bringing to life the vision of imbibing passenger first approach at the core of our operations.
CSMIA in cooperation with airline customers, and other key stakeholders have effectively rescheduled flights to ensure smooth completion of the maintenance. CSMIA looks forward to the cooperation and support by passengers.
Similarly, Mumbai International Airport runway was closed on May 10, 2022, for pre-monsoon maintenance work intending to mitigate the possible inclement weather.
