On Sunday, Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) lottery for 1,384 apartments commenced at 10:00 am. Shiv Sena ward president, Vinod Shirke, from Agripada bagged two of the costliest apartments in the MHADA lottery - one worth ₹4.99 crore and the other costing ₹5.8 crore - the most expensive in MHADA's history. Nearly, 80 applicants were in the race for the expensive apartments.

Another expensive apartment, worth ₹5.13 crore, was won by a certain Akhtar Said Mohammad. All these flats are located in Dhavalgiri building near August Kranti Maidan.

I have been filling up MHADA forms since 1999. However, I never won the house in MHADA lottery for 18 years. This year, I won not one but two flats. I am very happy. But according to MHADA’s rule, I will have to surrender one house. Will discuss with family members and will surrender one,” Vinod Shirke, Winner.

MHADA lottery was an interesting one as three people won houses from the same family. Likewise, one man won a house worth ₹5 Cr and another house worth ₹6 Cr.
