The Mumbai Central Division of Western Railway (WR) will install automated external defibrillators (AEDs) at 20 railway stations in the Mumbai division. This will also include suburban sections. The goal is to increase passenger safety.
The project is being executed in collaboration with the Bombay Airport Rotary Club as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The AEDs will be installed at the following stations: Churchgate, Marine Lines, Charni Road, Grant Road, Mahalaxmi, Lower Parel, Prabhadevi, Dadar, Bandra, Jogeshwari, Malad, Kandivali, Borivali, Mira Road, Bhayander, Vasai Road, Nallasopara, Virar, Boisar, and Vapi.

AEDs are user-friendly tools designed to provide quick aid to individuals experiencing a heart attack. They can be used by the general public. They help make sure that passengers receive timely medical assistance during emergencies.
Western Railway currently serves approximately 30 million passengers daily, operating around 1,400 suburban routes, which include 79 air-conditioned services and 199 fifteen-car services.
