Paddy Fields 2019: Audience shower their love on the first day of the folk-fusion music festival

While Pooja Gaitonde and Munawar Masoom made people croon to their songs, Meet Bros. ensured that the audience dance their heart off to their Punjabi renditions.

The fourth edition of Paddy Fields opened on a high note. The much-popular folk fusion music festival in this edition boasted of renowned names from the world of folk music. Artistes like Osman Mir, Meet Bros., Pooja Gaitonde, Munnawar Masoom, Sukhvinder Singh and many others are on the list to entertain the audience.

The first day of the event opened with Pooja Gaitonde's performance, which was a tribute to the legendary poet, Mirza Ghalib. The compositions Pooja presented reflected the well known Kalaam's from the world of Sufi Music. Songs like Afreen Afreen, Saanson ki Mala and many others set the right mood for the evening. Her melodious tone forced the music lovers in the audience to croon and demand for their favourites. Her vocal chemistry with Shahnawaz Ahmed's skill on the strings was magical. Pooja ended her performance with Rakhiyo mori laaj, a folk song from UP, which she presented for the first time ever, at Paddy Fields. 

Munnawar Masoom sahab presented his tribute in the form of Qawwali. His performance began with the renditions of legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan sahab. He started the evening with Ali Maula which added the divine touch to the evening. What followed was an amazing rendition of a ghazal and qawwali together, sharing the singers thought about enemies and the friendship he once had with them. The qawwals presented a show which left the audience longing for more. They sung 4 songs, and the audience wanted more of them.


Following the two phenomenal artists were Mere Bros. who are known for their Bollywood twists of Punjabi folk. The duo who have given many popular Bollywood songs and they presented the same for the audience, instantly making the audience dance to their tunes. Songs like London Thumak Da, Bajre da Sikka, Main naccha farate maar ke, kudiyan di akh lad gayi and many others. The audience connected to their beats immediately and they also engaged with the audience by dancing with them. The best part of their performance was the energy which never went down and that soared the mood high. The evening ended with the bhangra anthem 'ishq tera tadpaave,' where the audience couldn't stop shouting balle-balle and burrah, straight from the heart!
