Even after voting in the 2017 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections, these residents found their names missing from the voters list during phase 4 of Lok Sabha Elections 2019
Project Affected Persons (PAP) of Mahul who had been shifted from Tansa to Mahul (the toxic hell of Mumbai), found their names missing from the voters list even though they had voted in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in 2017. People kept shifting from Mahul to their original constituency in Ghatkopar but nothing worked out.
They blamed the collector who had promised to shift their name to the new constituency but failed to do so. The residents were agitated and they strongly feel that it was a deliberate attempt by the current government as these residents had opposed the government's decision and protested in many ways.
Some came all the way from their village to cast their vote but were deprived of their basic right. They were very agitated as they had to give up on their wage of 2 days and had to bear the travel expenses as well. Even after all this, they weren't able to vote.
