Bihar Assembly Elections: Shiv Sena fields only 23 candidates

Shiv Sena is contesting the Bihar assembly elections independently and had fielded its candidates on 50 seats out of 243. However, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party later decided to focus their energy on a few seats.

Shiv Sena has named 23 candidates for the ongoing Bihar assembly elections. The first phase of voting for the assembly polls in Bihar was concluded on October 28. The voting will continue on November 2 and 7 while the results will be out on November 10. 

Shiv Sena candidates will be contesting against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 10 assembly constituencies. Three candidates from Shiv Sena contested in the first phase. Nine Shiv Sena candidates will contest the polls on November 3 followed by 11 candidates in the third phase on November 7. 

Shiv Sena is contesting the Bihar assembly elections independently and had fielded its candidates on 50 seats out of 243. However, the Uddhav Thackeray-led party later decided to focus their energy on a few seats. 

Sena, ruling party in Maharashtra, is contesting the Bihar polls on a different symbol - “man blowing tura (trumpet)”. This came after the Election Commission object to Shiv Sena’s ‘bow and arrow’ symbol due to its similarity with the symbol of Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United). 

Sena earlier appointed 20 star campaigners which including Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, state Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray, Shiv Sena deputy leader Priyanka Chaturvedi, Anil Desai, MP Chandrakant Khaire.
