After Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the dates for Lok Sabha polls, several political developments can be noticed in Maharashtra including the party shift by certain leaders.

However, sources informed that lone All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) MLA Waris Pathan from Mumbai may contest in the upcoming LS polls from the North Central constituency. This can be a hurdle for the Congress.

AIMIM has formed a pre-poll alliance with the Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) in Maharashtra under the banner of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) led by BBM chief Prakash Ambedkar.

Earlier, Ambedkar declared his candidates for 22 LS seats while the BBM chief gave an ultimatum to Congress regarding the formation of an alliance. However, if the VBA fails to join hands with the Congress-NCP alliance, it may affect the voter share of the Congress.
