After Devendra Fadnavis swore in as Maharashtra Chief Minister and Ajit Pawar became the Deputy Chief Minister, NCP and Shiv Sena supremos held a press conference on Saturday and slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for “disrespecting the Constitution and people’s mandate”.

There could be a disciplinary action against Ajit Pawar which will be decided in the NCP meeting at 4:00 PM today. Ajit Pawar’s decision is against the party,” Sharad Pawar asserted while speaking at YB Chavan centre in Mumbai.

Pawar further expressed that he was surprised by what had happened and didn’t expect Ajit Pawar would do such a thing while saying that BJP won’t be able to prove majority. 

NCP chief Sharad Pawar said that Ajit Pawar had the support of 10 to 11 MLAs during the oath ceremony on Saturday morning. Of these MLAs, three of them came back and attended the presser organised by Pawar. 

NCP MLA Rajendra Shigne told the media that they no idea about what was happening and were taken to Raj Bhawan by Ajit Pawar. “...this was the case of misunderstanding. We were kept in dark. None of us had any idea of what was really going on,” Shigne added. 

Moreover, NCP MLA Sandeep Shivsagar also said that they didn’t know anything about the oath-taking ceremony. “As soon as the oath ceremony concluded I called up Sharad Pawar,” said Shivsagar.

Another NCP MLA informed that the media that they are in no way part of what has happened. “We are in no way part of all this. We had no clue of any of this,” said the NCP MLA.

During his address to the media, Pawar asserted that they are certain that BJP-led government doesn’t have the numbers to prove majority in the floor test.

They won’t be able to prove majority. We back the Shiv Sena-led government and our three parties will form the government as we had planned before,” said Sharad Pawar.

Ajit Pawar has been removed as the NCP legislature party leader. The decision to take disciplinary action against Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar will be taken in the NCP meeting on Saturday evening.
