In the aftermath of the Enforcement Directorate (ED), provisionally attaching 11 flats of Mumbai-based Pushpak Bullion which is a real estate project developed by a company promoted by Shridhar Madhav Patankar, the brother-in-law of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Wednesday, March 23, Thackeray made a statement, reports stated.

According to accounts, the CM informed his cabinet colleagues that the MVA government will put up a strong fight against the Union’s actions. Moreover, later in the evening, Thackeray also met with Shiv Sena ministers and legislators at his official residence Varsha, cited narratives.

It has been reported that Thackeray’s interaction with the party members and legislators was his first physical meeting after his spinal surgery last November.

Earlier, on Tuesday, March 22, Patankar’s name had appeared in an ongoing investigation by the ED in a money laundering case. The case against the company is for allegedly accepting demonetized currency of INR 84.5 crore against 258kg of gold between November and December 2016.

In a statement, the ED said that the flats are worth INR 6.45 crore. Their investigation brought to light that Mahesh Patel, director of Pushpak Group “siphoned off and layered funds” of the Pushpak Group companies.

This action amongst the many undertaken by the central agencies is seen by the MVA government as a purposeful attack by the Centre.
