The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra has alleged conspiracy in connection with the gathering of migrant workers and labourers near Bandra (W) railway station on Wednesday.

Senior BJP leader and former MP Kirit Somaiya alleged that the crowd gathered to “protest” the lockdown was a pre-planned conspiracy while demanding Mumbai Police to carry out an investigation into the matter.

Somaiya earlier posted a video on his Twitter handle alleging that Bandra incident was a planned event while stating that he has received the video “from a reliable source”.

In the video posted by Somaiya, a few people standing near Bandra railway station can be seen talking that they want either ₹15,000 or they should be allowed to go home. Moreover, they can be heard talking about the absence of media and police. The BJP leader has alleged that the crowd gathering was pre-planned and informed that he has submitted the video to Mumbai Commissioner.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Vinod Tawde also expressed his desire for a thorough inquiry into the crowd gathering of migrant workers and labourers near Bandra railway station and finding the true source behind the incident.

“Thousands of people gathered in Bandra at a few kilometre distances from 'Matoshree'. This depicts the failure of the state government. The public wants to know what action the government will take,” Tawde said in a video message.

Over 3,000 migrant workers and labourers gathered near Bandra (W) railway station and were later dispersed as the police lathi-charged them. The migrants say that they are stranded in the city due to the nationwide lockdown as they have no money and food.

This happened on Wednesday after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the nationwide lockdown will remain till May 3. Moreover, there were rumours that the train services will resume for the migrant workers and labourers to go home.
