The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its list of candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra Legislative Council elections, naming five candidates for regular seats and one for a bypoll seat, as per the report by Hindustan Times.
The party has fielded Sunil Karjatkar, Madhavi Naik, Sanjay Bhende, Vivek Kolhe, and Pramod Jathar for the five Legislative Council positions. For the bypoll seat, Pradnya Satav has been nominated as the party’s candidate.
The announcement comes ahead of the elections scheduled for May 12, with the bypoll also expected to be held on the same day as part of the electoral process.
According to party sources, the names were finalised after consultations within the state unit and approval from the central leadership. The selection is said to reflect a combination of experienced leaders and emerging party workers, aimed at strengthening organisational presence across different regions of Maharashtra.
Party leaders stated that the nominations were made keeping in mind regional balance, caste representation, and organisational contribution, as the party looks to consolidate its position in the state’s legislative structure.
Further political activity and campaigning are expected to intensify in the run-up to the polls.
