In the wake of an unfortunate incident where a young college teacher was set ablaze in Maharashtra’s Wardha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Manisha Chaudhary has decided to form a Gulabi gang keeping in the mind the poor condition of women security in the state.

Regarding this, the BJP MLA has also submitted a memorandum to Additional Police Commissioner Dilip Sawant to strengthen the security for women.

“We have decided to form a Pink gang in North Mumbai for the safety of the women. This gang will include retired police personnel, lawyers and several NGOs. This gang will aim to provide safety training to the women and create a helpline,” BJP MLA Manisha Chaudhary said.

Earlier, a 24-year-old young college teacher was set ablaze on February 3 allegedly by a man in Maharashtra’s Wardha district who had been stalking her for the past two years.

On Monday, the girl was reported dead as she couldn’t survive the injuries on her body. The young professor suffered 40 per cent burn injuries.

Speaking about the issue, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had earlier said that the case trial would be held in a fast track court and family members of the deceased girl will be provided government jobs.

The suspect named Vicky Nagrale (27) was arrested by the police from Takalghat near Nagpur on the day of the incident. He was charged under sections 307 (attempt to murder) and 326 (causing hurt by dangerous weapons) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
