Bureaucrats are protective shield of CM: Uddhav Thackeray

After taking over the Chief Minister Office (CMO), Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on directed them to ‘make sure’ that no controversial and illegal files are not forwarded to him for approval.

This was CM Thackeray’s one the initial interactions with the bureaucrats along with Ajoy Mehta, chief secretary of Maharashtra.

While addressing a high-level meeting with the bureaucrats on governance, administration and discipline, Thackeray said that he believes bureaucrats are the protecting shield of the Chief Minister.

I have no experience in administration. I believe bureaucrats are the protective shield of the CM and you should ensure to not bring forward any file for approval which will bring the CM’s office in controversy,” CM Uddhav Thackeray was quoted saying in media reports.

In the meeting, Thackeray also asked the bureaucrats to remain available for common people during visiting hours while maintaining discipline and adhering to Mantralaya’s time schedule.

I have been informed that there are visiting hours between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM for commoners. The bureaucrats should make sure to remain available during this time,” said Thackeray.
