Within 10 days, Maharashtra Government has granted Minister of State (MoS) status to two people in the government machinery. After Shiv Sena leader and Siddhivinayak Trust President, Aadesh Bandekar was granted MoS status, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tagged top law officer, Ashutosh Kumbhakoni, with the same.

The decision to accord MoS status to the advocate-general has come from the state’s law department. Maharashtra government kept the idea under consideration to provide the advocate general with this status, who represents the state in courts. Kumbhakoni’s status as MoS comes with perks including the honorarium, he will get a travel allowance up to ₹20 lakh, government bungalow, and other privileges.

Earlier, Fadnavis government gave MoS status to Bandekar who is close to Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray. With Shiv Sena and BJP tussle in the political arena, it is being speculated that he was given status to lure Shiv Sena for the upcoming polls next year.

It is also being said that the Maharashtra government is reluctant to do anything about the farmer's issue in the state and the Anganwadi teachers and workers haven’t been paid for almost a decade now. However, seems like the state government is willing to spend people’s money by providing MoS status to certain people.
