Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik will have to come to Mumbai on June 25 to vote in the Maharashtra Legislative Council elections. UP Governor demanded that he should be given the postal ballot facility to vote directly from UP for the MLC election.

However, the Election Commission did not permit the same. To note, ₹53,000 will be spent on the travel of the governor excluding the cost of Z plus security.

Governor Naik had written a letter to EC commissioner Om Prakash Rawat and suggested that a postal ballot facility shall be available for the Legislative Council elections similar to how the non-residence Indians vote in the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.

The elections for Maharashtra Legislative Council are going to be held on June 25.
