Maharashtra former chief minister and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan has been issued a notice by the Income Tax Department. He was issued notice by the Income-Tax Department on Diwali.

Targeting the Central government, Chavan revealed about the notice on Wednesday and said that this notice is issued to harass him. He claimed that this was just a part of the regular process of the Income-Tax Department.

The senior Congress leader has been asked to provide details of his assets for the last 10 years. The notice has to be replied within 21 days and he has been asked to be present in person. "We are taking appropriate action in that regard,” Chavan clarified. He further said that a detailed reply will be sent to this notice.

Blaming the Modi-led BJP government, Chavan said, “The BJP has a well-planned strategy on how to use power and for whom. Everything starts accordingly. A similar notice was issued to Sharad Pawar a few days back and now I have been sent a notice. I will give a proper explanation on that."

Apart from that, the Congress leader also attacked the Centre over the economic condition and agricultural laws.

As mentioned by Chavan, NCP chief Sharad Pawar had stated that the I-T Department had served him a notice in connection with his poll affidavits submitted to the Election Commission.
