The Thackeray group, a constituent party of the Mahavikas Aghadi, announced the list of 17 candidates today. In this list, the Thackeray group has also fielded candidates in the traditional constituencies of the Congress. There was already confusion in the Mahavikas Aghadi over seat allocation. But, now after the list is out, this confusion has come to the fore. Sanjay Nirupam of Congress held a press conference and criticised Shiv Sena and Congress leadership. He also alleged that Shiv Sena is trying to suppress Congress in Mumbai.

Sanjay Nirupam was aspirant from Mumbai North West i.e. Mumbai North West Lok Sabha Constituency. He was defeated by Gajanan Kirtikar in the 2019 elections. But now, as the political calculations have changed, Gajanan Kirtikar has gone to the Shinde group, while his son-in-law Amol Kirtikar is in the Thackeray group. When Mahavikas Aghadi announced its candidature for the Lok Sabha elections, there was a confusion between Sanjay Nirupam and Amol Kirtikar. Congress had demanded this seat. But, as the Thackeray group has nominated Amol Kirtikar from this seat, Sanjay Nirupam's address has been cut off. As a result, Sanjay Nirupam is angry and Shiv Sena has done injustice to Congress, Sanjay Nirupam said.

“Congress leadership has always raised its voice against corruption. But now Shiv Sena has nominated the same candidate on whom there are allegations of corruption. So did the Congress not see this?” Sanjay Nirupam asked this angry question. Also, he requested that the senior leaders of the Congress should object to this nomination.

Sanjay Nirupam on this occasion criticised the Congress. Sanjay Nirupam said, “The party leadership is no longer concerned about the party. I have not talked to anyone for the last 15-20 days. What is my expectation? What can be done to fulfil my expectations? If one thing cannot be done, what can the other do? No one asked me that.

Anyone is behaving anyway, thinking that he should do what he wants to do. My point is that all over the country Congress has announced a manifesto based on justice. It is said from this manifesto to give justice to the people of different classes of Hindustani society. But on the other hand, there is no concern whether the party workers are getting justice or not. No one speaks of the injustice within them who speak the language of justice.”

Congress bowed down to Shiv Sena

“I was expected by the senior leadership that after losing the elections in 2019, I will be active in my constituency. Therefore, I have the right to contest the election from this seat. But Shiv Sena pressed us. And we are overwhelmed. Today it is a scene that we have bowed before the Shiv Sena which has no existence of its own. Shiv Sena has no mass base. It seems that the Congress has started bowing down to a party with such a low base", said Sanjay Nirupam.

Will wait only one week

“I would like to tell the Congress leadership that I will wait for the next week. Many options are open to me. Whatever happens now, will happen. An announcement will be heard in this regard within a week. They will have to wait for a week to hear the sentiments that activists like us have”, Sanjay Nirupam warned.
