Congress MLA Nitesh Rane alleged that under the name of giving place to hawkers, Shiv Sena is playing dirty politics by giving place to hawkers outside Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray and former CM Narayan Rane’s residence.
Just because we will protest against the illegal hawkers, Shiv Sena is deliberately making hawkers sit outside our residence. We wil not let it happen. We will fight back with the help of taking suggestions and objections. If our road is not declared as no hawkers zone then in future, we will see to it that hawkers sit outside Matoshree.”

On the background of an ongoing investigation of the Kamala Mills fire incident, Rane met BMC chief Ajoy Mehta asking him to add gangster Bala Khopde’s name and carry out an investigation. He said that he has provided proof for the same.
Rane alleged that the civic body taking action against pubs and restaurants is a farce as after demolishing the structures, the hoteliers started the construction again.
Even after this incident, no restaurants or hotels are following any fire safety norms. I informed the same to the BMC commissioner. I hope that he will take some action."
