In an attempt to overcome the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bhopal, Congress leaders in Madhya Pradesh Congress leaders want Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal as their party candidate.
Congress leaders have stated that Kareena’s candidature will help in trouncing the BJP in the city. For decades now, Bhopal has been electing a BJP MP and the opposition party thinks that since Kareena is the daughter-in-law of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, her participation will work in the favour of the actress. Bhopal is the birthplace of Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, the father of actor Saif Ali Khan.
Back in 1991, Mansoor Ali Khan had fought Lok Sabha elections from Bhopal and had to face defeat against BJP's Sushil Chandra Verma.
The party leaders will now approach MP Chief Minister and MP Congress President Kamal Nath with the proposal to convince the actress to contest elections.
