'Matoshree' sealed after tea vendor in vicinity tested positive for COVID-19

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sealed the area surrounding the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray private residence after a tea vendor was tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19 in the locality. 

The tea vendor near ‘Matoshree’ was tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday. Matoshree is the private residence of Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray in suburban Bandra.  

In an effort to stop the spread of the coronavirus, the civic body has also sprayed disinfectants in the area. According to sources, it was found that some bodyguards from the Chief Minister’s security used to have their tea daily at the same vendor who has been tested positive. 

A civic body official informed that the vendor who has been tested COVID-19 positive ran a tea stall in the locality. The contact tracking is ongoing, he added. 

In Maharashtra, the number of positive cases for the coronavirus or COVID-19 has soared up to 803 with the death toll reaching 45. In Mumbai, the number of cases has increased to 491. 

Earlier, 33 fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported in the state. Of them, 19 cases were reported in Pimpri-Chinchwad, followed by 11 in Mumbai, one each in Ahmednagar, Satara and Vasai. 

Earlier, the Maharashtra government passed an order stating that no individual without a face mask will be granted entry to the Mantralaya. The decision is applicable for all including the state government employees.
