Days after senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Devendra Fadnavis claimed that the centre has provided enough funds to Maharashtra government, state Transport Minister Anil Parab hit out at the leader of Opposition (LoP) saying that the claims made Fadnavis were false and misleading.

On Tuesday, Fadnavis attacked the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and claimed that the centre has provided the state government with more than ₹28,000 crores.

Fadnavis, LoP in Maharashtra legislative assembly, said that the centre has provided a total of ₹4,592 for food grains followed by ₹1,726 crores under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sanman Yojana, ₹1,958 crores has been given through Jandhan Yoajan, ₹116 crores has been given for widows/disabled/senior citizens.

The central government has also given ₹300 crores for 600 trains and ₹468 crores has been given for health assistance, he added.

While addressing a presser, Parab refuted the claims made by Fadnavis and said that the Maharashtra government was supposed to receive ₹42,000 crores from the central government but has got nothing so far.

“All claims made by Fadnavis about the funds and assistance given to Maharashtra is false and misleading,” the transport minister said while adding that the ₹28,000 crore figure given by Fadnavis was “imaginary”.

The minister said that Maharashtra has received only ₹6,649 crores under various schemes from the centre and not ₹28,000 crores as claimed by Devendra Fadnavis. The former CM earlier claimed that Maharashtra has received wheat worth ₹1,750 crores.

Reacting to this, Parab said that the decision to provide wheat, dal and rice was taken for the entire country and not especially for Maharashtra. The state, however, has got no wheat at all, he added.

Shiv Sena leader Anil Parab further slammed Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal over his allegations that the trains have returned empty from Maharashtra. Parab said that the railway minister had sent 40 trains in one go instead of the demand made by the Maharashtra government to operate them in a staggered manner.

“The railway started giving out information very late about the trains, which is causing huge chaos among migrant workers but they are trying to blame the Maharashtra government,” Parab said.

In a show of strength amid the coalition crisis rumours, the MVA leaders on Wednesday held a meeting at Chief Minister’s official residence ‘Varsha’ to discuss the COVID-19 situation and government preparedness for the same.

Later, Anil Parab held a presser and was accompanied by Maharashtra Water Resource Minister Jayant Patil and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat.
