The leaders from the opposition and the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government are lining up at Raj Bhavan to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari which has raised eyebrows in the political circle. Some are speculating instability in the Uddhav Thackeray government.

However, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Tuesday rejected the speculations and informed that Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar met for one and a half hours at Matoshree in Mumbai on Monday night.

This happened hours after Sharad Pawar along with NCP leader Praful Patel met Governor Koshyari at Raj Bhavan Patel, later, informed that this was a courtesy call and nothing of political nature was discussed between Pawar and Koshyari.

Raut didn’t reveal what was discussed in the meeting between two leaders but asserted that the Maharashtra government was “strong”.

“Respected Sharad Pawar and Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray met at Matoshree yesterday evening. Both the leaders held a discussion for about an hour and a half. Those spreading news about the stability of the government, it should be understood as their stomach ache. The government is strong. No worries. Jai Maharashtra.” Sanjay Raut tweeted in Marathi on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, in the latest development, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Narayan Rane on Monday met the Governor and demanded the imposition of President’s rule in the state, owing to the “failure” of Shiv Sena-led MVA government in the wake of coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier, Raut also went to Raj Bhavan and met Governor Koshyari. Later, he said that the meeting was a courtesy call and there was no dispute between Uddhav Thackeray and Bhagat Singh Koshyari. “The duo share a father-son relationship and it will remain like that,” Raut added.

However, the BJP in Maharashtra has launched “Maharashtra Bachao Andolan” (Saving Maharashtra protest) against the MVA government over its “ineffective handling” of COVID-19 situation in the state.
