Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut earlier met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and the meeting between the two was labelled as a “courtesy call” by the Raj Bhavan.

This happened days after Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray skipped a review meeting with Governor Koshyari to discuss the COVID-19 situation in the state and assess the government’s preparedness to tackle the spread of the coronavirus.

After the meeting, Raut told the reporters that CM Thackeray and Governor Koshyari share a father-son relationship which will not change. Earlier, Thackeray skipped the review meeting held at Raj Bhavan and sent his aide Shiv Sena leader Milind Narvekar on his behalf.

This raised speculations of a cold war between the Maharashtra Chief Minister and Governor, owing to the political tension between the two earlier in relation to the delay in Uddhav Thackeray’s nomination as an MLC through governor’s quota.

The Maharashtra cabinet had recommended Thackeray’s name twice to Governor Koshyari for his nomination to the legislative council via governor’s quota in order to avoid a constitutional crisis.

However, Koshyari delayed the request and elections to nine vacancies were announced by the election commission. Thackeray, who was elected unopposed to the legislative council on May 14, was constitutionally bound to get elected to the MLC before May 28.

After his meeting with the governor, Raut said that the governor and chief minister had no conflict and shared a father-son relationship which will remain like that.

“Well! Bhagat Singh Koshyari is elder to me so this namaskar, otherwise we had good interaction, I told him not to worry, our MVA government under leadership of Uddhav Thackeray is running fine (sic),” Sanjay Raut tweeted.

Amid the ongoing tension between the MVA government and Maharashtra Governor Koshyari, the Shiv Sena MP had said that Raj Bhavan shouldn’t be the centre of political conspiracies.
