Maharashtra deputy chief minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar's died after an aircraft crash-landed in Maharashtra's Baramati on Wednesday morning, January 28.

The incident took place around 9 am. He was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati for meetings ahead of the Zilla Parishad polls.

As per reports, Pawar and four others, including Pilot and security personnel, onboard died in the crash.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said all five passengers on board died in the crash.

Visuals from the spot show fire and smoke, mangled remains of the plane, and ambulances rushing the injured to nearby hospitals.

Preliminary reports suggest the plane ran into trouble during its final approach and crashed on the runway, prompting a temporary suspension of airport operations and delays to both arriving and departing flights.
