Recently, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have expressed their anger over the postponement of the Supreme Court hearing on the Maratha reservation. As per reports, the case has been pushed to next month and reacting on the same, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly and former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has accused the state government of not knowing and understanding people's sentiments regarding Maratha reservation.

The Supreme Court had scheduled the hearing of the case on Wednesday, January 20, 2021. But recently, the same was postponed, due to which the decision regarding the implementation of Maratha reservation has also been delayed for a later date.

Sharing more information, Devendra Fadnavis, while interacting with the media said that the way the state government is interfering in the Maratha reservation issue raises several questions. One is not clear about the thoughts going on in the government. Some petitions have been filed and then the state government has been asking for more time leading to an unreasonable delay in the implementation of reservation.

He said that the situation that has arisen today in the context of Maratha reservation is only due to the confusion in the government, as the officials do not seem to be playing a strong role. Moreover, every time, a new role is being played, and one fails to understand the huge differences within the state government regarding this issue of Maratha reservation, whereby no coordination is seen among the officials.

Fadnavis added that the state government's action is to add question marks on all types of reservations, and alleged that the MPSC and the state government have got this mixed up. Clarifying more, he said that the party has no complaints on not being called for discussion, however, rather than satisfying the BJP, the government should focus on satisfying those who do not get a reservation because of their negativity. He demanded that the government offer justice to the people of the Maratha community.
