What's the story?

In what seems to be a commendable achievement, Amol Yadav has shown what pure will and hard work can do. A commercial pilot who made a full-fledged aircraft on the terrace of his residence has been awarded a registration by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

From selling his house and spending a whopping sum, the Mumbaikar was formally handed over the DGCA certificate by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Capt. Amol Yadav is presently a Deputy Chief Pilot with Jet Airways.

Yadav has built the six-seater aeroplane on a residential building terrace in Kandivali over the past six years and finally, it has been accorded official recognition.

What does the certification do?

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) certification implies that Yadav can now undertake further tests and fly the aircraft in the open skies. Yadav had displayed the aircraft during the ‘Make In India’ mega-event in Mumbai last year which was inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi. At the event in February 2016, Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Fadnavis saw his plane and appreciated the efforts.

Aircraft named after Modi and Fadnavis

Yadav has dedicated his creation to PM Modi and CM Fadnavis and has registered the name of the aircraft as ‘VT-NMD or Victor Tango Narendra Modi Devendra’.
