Fadnavis instructed police to file fake case against me: Eknath Khadse after quitting BJP

Former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Eknath Khadse, who is set to join the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), blamed Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Devendra Fadnavis for his resignation.

“The party gave me a lot to this day. I spent my life standing up for the party and worked 40 years to strengthen it. However, even after I repeatedly expressed my grievances, I did not receive justice,” Khadse said while adding that he was only unhappy with Devendra Fadnavis and no one else.

Lashing out at Fadnavis for forcing him out of the party, Khadse alleged that the former Chief Minister instructed the police to file a “false” harassment case against him. The veteran leader has been sulking ever since he was forced to resign as a minister in 2016 over corruption charges.

“Devendra Fadnavis destroyed my life. I feel sad about quitting the BJP but I have no choice. Fadnavis instructed the police to file a case against me on false allegations of harassment by a woman. I came clean on the corruption charges levelled against me,” Khadse said.

Death would have been more affordable instead of such low-level politics, he further added.

Khadse will be joining the NCP on October 23 in the presence of Sharad Pawar. His dissatisfaction with the state leadership of the BJP intensified after he was denied a ticket in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly Elections.

On Wednesday, Maharashtra NCP chief Jayant Patil said Khadse informed him that he has quit the BJP and will come to NCP fold on Friday. This comes as a huge blow to the BJP in the state.
