Polling for 14,234 gram panchayats in Maharashtra to be held on January 15

Reports state that nominations for this election are being accepted from December 23 to 30, 2020, and will not be accepted on public holidays. They will be examined on December 31. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till January 4, 2021

Recently held Maharashtra Legislative Council elections in different constituencies have given both a boost for the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and also changed people's perception in Maharastra. The MVA government led by CM Uddhav Thackeray is now preparing with its new confidence for the soon-to-be-held Gram Panchayat elections.

As per reports, polling for the general elections of nearly 14,234 Gram Panchayats in 34 districts of Maharashtra will be held on January 15, 2021, and the counting of votes will take place on January 18, 2021. The code of conduct for the same was implemented by UPS Madan on Friday, December 11, 2020

Sharing more information about the Gram Panchayat elections, UPS Madan said that the general elections for 1,566 Gram Panchayats, which ended between April and June 2020, were expected to be held on March 31, 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the election program was eventually postponed and then cancelled. Furthermore, officials then announced an election for all the newly established Gram Panchayats towards the end of their term in December 2020.

Reports state that nominations for this election are being accepted from December 23 to 30, 2020, and will not be accepted on public holidays. They will be examined on December 31. Nomination papers can be withdrawn till January 4, 2021, and election symbol will be distributed on the same day. Voting will take place on January 15, 2021, from 7.30 am to 5.30 pm. The counting of votes will take place on January 18, 2021.

Meanwhile, polling in Gadchiroli district will be held from 7.30 am to 3 pm only.

Madan added that the existing voter list of the Assembly constituency prepared on September 25, 2020, will be considered for this election. The ward wise draft voter lists of the Gram Panchayats prepared accordingly were published on December 1, 2020. The deadline for filing objections and suggestions was December 7, 2020, post which, the final voter lists was prepared. The same will be published on December 14, 2020.
