The Election Commission of India has announced the elections for Maharashtra Legislative Council Teacher and Graduate constituencies and the voting process in this regard was to be held on June 10, 2024. However, the Commission received representations regarding holding these elections after the school summer vacation period.
According to the Election Commission of India, considering this demand, the Maharashtra Legislative Council has postponed the biennial elections for teacher and graduate constituencies.
Vilas Vinayak Potnis from Mumbai Graduate Constituency, Niranjan Vasant Davkhare from Konkan Graduate Constituency, Kishore Bhikaji Darade from Nashik Teachers Constituency and Kapil Harishchandra Patil from Mumbai Teachers Constituency are retiring from the Maharashtra Legislative Council on July 7, 2024.
Therefore the election schedule for 2 teachers constituencies and 2 graduates constituencies was announced.
