On Thursday, May 12, the Election Commission (EC) reportedly declared the poll plan for six Rajya Sabha seats from Maharashtra. It has been reported that the terms of Piyush Goyal, Vikas Mahatme and Vinay Sahasrabuddhe from BJP are ending. 

Similarly, terms of Praful Patel from NCP, P Chidambaram from Congress and Sanjay Raut from Shiv Sena are ending on July 7. Based on accounts, a notification will be issued on May 24 and the polling will be conducted on June 10.

For this, the results will be declared on the same day. Maharashtra is one of the states that has the highest number of vacant seats at 6. 

According to narratives, the EC made a statement wherein they elaborated on how the date of issue of notification for the elections will be May 24. However, the last date to file nominations will be May 31. This will be followed by a scrutiny of nominations on June 1 while the last date of withdrawal of candidatures will be June 3.

Likewise, the hours of polling on June 10 will be from 9 am till 4 pm and the counting of votes will be from 5 pm. It added that all COVID-19 rules will be adhered with during the complete polling process. Further, it elucidated that adequate measures for monitoring for the election process by appointing observers shall be done to see to it that free and fair elections are done.
