Devendra Fadnavis, leader of the opposition, has claimed that he has written over 100 letters to CM Uddhav Thackeray regarding various subjects of public interest, however, he is yet to receive a response.

In 2019, after Thackeray took over the post of the Chief Minister, Fadnavis, the former CM, was elected as the leader of the opposition. With the outbreak of the coronavirus, Fadvanis had conducted an extensive tour of the state which led him to declare that the administrative efforts were grossly inadequate. After every tour, he wrote letters to the CM along with the health minister Rajesh Tope and chief secretary Sanjay Kumar suggesting an array of measures, however, the former CM claims that he is yet to receive a reply.

Fadnavis very recently had slammed the state government after CM Uddhav Thackeray announced ₹10,000 crores as financial aid for the farmers affected by heavy downpour contending that the amount was nothing in comparison to the losses suffered by the farmers. He further recalled that Thackeray himself had demanded ₹20,000-50,000 per hectare and ₹1,00,000 for orchards as relief in the past. According to Fadnavis, the CM had made a futile attempt to blame the Centre in order to avoid providing adequate assistance to the farmers.
