Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched an attack on Shiv Sena (UTB) Leader Uddhav Thackeray and said he betrayed the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that for campaigning Uddhav Thackeray’s party used Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s phots and later joined hands with Congress and Nationalist Congress Party. These pouncing remarks from Fadnavis come days after Thackeray termed Fadnavis as ‘tainted’ during his Nagpur public rally. Responding to breaking parties' allegations he said he was acting as per ‘dharma’ not ‘adharma’

Addressing the masses at a program organized in Bhiwandi by the BJP state unit, Mahavijay 2024, Fadnavis said, “Uddhav Thackeray back-stabbed us in 2019. Uddhav Thackeray used photos of Modi Ji and later joined hands with Congress and NCP.”

He said that Union Home Minister Amit Shah told him in politics, one can bear 10 insults, but not accept betrayal. If one does, he will not survive in politics.

Fadnavis supported his party’s recent political actions by giving an example of ‘samudra manthan’ and Lord Krishna’s kootniti, in Mahabharata. He said it was necessary to take these actions to meet important goals. “We were acting as per dharma not adharma,” he said.

He told party workers, “In this samudra manthan, faith and patience are required.” Fadnavis gave examples of Lord Krishna's acts that brought an end to Duryodhana, Drnacharya, and Ashwathama. He said, “Whenever there is betrayal, one must act with diplomacy.”

"Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar have been involved in politics for a while. They thought it through and then came and joined us. Eknath Shinde would be born whenever there is injustice," he said. He added that the relationship with Shinde's Sena is emotional rather than political.

Commenting on the Opposition front against PM Modi, he said, “Except for Congress and those engaged in appeasement politics, the BJP's doors are open to all.”

According to the BJP leader, Uddhav Thackeray informed him that he had requested Amit Shah for the position of Chief Minister in 2019, "when talks of alliance were in the final stage." However, Amit Shah wouldn't budge on the CM position and instructed me to call off all negotiations if Thackeray didn't consent, the conversation came to an end. A mediator told me a few days later that Thackeray had abandoned his plan to run for chief minister in favor of a Palghar local assembly seat, to which the party had agreed.

This was the first time Devendra Fadnavis was addressing party workers after the alliance with NCP leaders. He admitted in his speech that his colleagues had many unanswered concerns, but he urged them to be patient and keep their faith in the party.
