Nariman Point - Recently, a crook used a fake stamp of the Secretary for Social Welfare Department of Mantralaya , to dupe a young engineer for lakhs of rupees.This has raised a question mark on the security and confidentiality of Mantralaya. In this case, a stamp from the Social Welfare Department was used but the consequences could have been more serious if the stamp had belonged to the Home Department .
Two questions arise from this case.
1.how can these stamps be accessed so easily?
2 Is the government planning to replace stamps with digital signatures?
