Need to give importance to women safety: Urmila Matondkar on Issue Kya Hai

Since her name was announced by the Congress, Urmila Matondkar has proved herself to be a star candidate for the party. The renowned actress is contesting 2019 Lok Sabha election from Mumbai North constituency. 

In an exclusive interview with Mumbai Live, Matondkar talks about her journey – from being a reclusive actress to contesting Lok Sabha election. Matondkar also talks about the major national issue - the safety of women in the country. 

“My transformation from being an actress to entering the active politics has not been natural. I have always been a reclusive kind of an actor and this had to be done for the reasons and I have put my foot forward for it,” said Congress candidate Urmila Matondkar on being asked about her interest in politics. 

Further, during the discussion, she offered her take on the foreign policies and national security, Urmila Matondkar said, “These policies have not been taken care of, they need more detailing and focus. Matondkar further refused to comment on the same and said that she will answer the same in Parliament." 

Matondkar is contesting against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Gopal Shetty.
