Babaji (Dada) Balaram Patil is a veteran social worker from Thane district’s Moti Desai village. This Lok Sabha election, he will contest elections for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) from the Kalyan constituency.
Currently, Patil is the Thane District Central Co-Op Bank Ltd.’s Director. Earlier, he was elected as the Corporator after receiving a surprising majority while contesting for the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) elections in 2017.
Meanwhile, Babaji Patil will be contesting for the Lok Sabha elections for the first time in 2019. As per the affidavit submitted by Patil, currently, he has one criminal case filed against him.
Babaji Balaram Patil has education up to Standard X and had received his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Thane’s Saraswati Vidya Mandir in 1982.
In Kalyan constituency, Shiv Sena has a stronghold – the incumbent MP Shrikant Shinde won with huge margin of votes earlier in 2014 general election. However, NCP has put faith in a first timer – Babaji Patil who is renowned social worker. In public opinion, Babaji is being considered as a weak candidate in front of Shinde.
