Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray addressing the media on Wednesday evening shared that the total number of cases of people suffering from COVID-19 has increased to 10. Out of these eight are from Pune, while two are from Mumbai. Out of these seven had recently been to Dubai and were in the same flight of 40 people. There is no information regarding the three new cases that have tested positive.  

Uddhav Thackeray also hinted that under these circumstances the budget session might be cut short and end on this Saturday. Earlier it was to go on till March 20, 2020. He also mentioned that the government will strive to finish all pressing matter by this Saturday. 

While schools and colleges have been given a holiday in Pune but the same is not declared in Mumbai. Uddhav Thackeray shared that if need be the same lockdown might be implemented in the entire state.

Postponing IPL

There has been news doing the round that the recent IPL Tournament might be postponed. Talking about the same the Chief Minister said that no such proposal has come in front of them as yet and if it does they will act upon it according to the situation at hand. 

Earlier in the day, Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray had held a review meeting with Pune divisional commissioner and district collector through video- conferencing. In this meeting, they discussed the steps that were being taken to tackle COVID-19.

He had also urged people to not to panic and that the state was well-equipped to handle this novel virus. Apart from this, it was highly encouraged that people avoid places that have high footfalls including social and religious gathering. Uddhav Thackeray via a statement had said, "The patients who have tested positive are stable. They have been kept under observation. The health department, airports, ports, railways are on alert and are taking necessary precautions”.
