Although the Mahavikas Aghadi will fight together in the assembly elections in the state, the Congress will demand seat sharing based on the success of the Lok Sabha elections. In this regard, it is understood that the state leaders have proposed the formula of seat allocation in the meeting of central leaders held in Delhi on Tuesday.

The formula for allotment of seats in Mahavikas Aghadi has not been decided. However, for every seat won in the Lok Sabha elections, the primary formula of seat allocation may be six seats in the Legislative Assembly. If this formula is accepted, Congress will be able to contest at least 84 assembly seats. Congress has won 14 seats in the Lok Sabha elections. Sources say that there was no discussion with the leaders of the constituent parties in Mahavikas Aghadi regarding this formula.

As the Congress has won the most seats in the Lok Sabha elections, it is understood that the state leaders have taken the position that more seats should be given to the Congress in the Assembly elections. This proposal can be presented in the Mahavikas Aghadi meeting after the decision of the central leaders.

However, there was no discussion regarding seat allocation in this meeting. Regional in-charge Ramesh Chennithala said after the meeting that a decision will be taken after discussing with the leaders of the constituent parties of Mahavikas Aghadi. A meeting with the constituent parties of the alliance is likely to be held after July 20.

It is understood that Rahul Gandhi has advised the regional leaders to continue the same strategy in the assembly elections as the strategy of decentralization of electoral responsibility was done by giving district wise responsibility to the leaders in the Lok Sabha elections. It is understood that the proposal to appoint a coordination committee for seat allocation of Mahavikas Aghadi was also discussed in the meeting.

Like the Lok Sabha, in the state assembly elections, the Congress will bring up major issues such as the constitution, caste-wise census and corruption in the grand coalition government. An important meeting of the state Congress leaders was held at the party headquarters on Tuesday to decide the strategy for the assembly elections that have been delayed for four months.

Meeting in Mumbai on July 14

With the success of the Mahavikas Aghadi in the Lok Sabha elections, it has been decided to contest the assembly elections together. Legislative Council elections will be held in the state on July 12, after which state Congress leaders will hold a meeting in Mumbai on July 14. Regional in-charge Ramesh Chennithala informed after the meeting that the strategy for the assembly elections will be discussed in detail again in this meeting.

In the assembly elections of Karnataka, the Congress had campaigned that the BJP government means a government with commission. In Maharashtra too, campaigning against the grand alliance government will be carried out on the same issue. State president Nana Patole said that the Mahayuti government in the state is a 70 percent commission government and this message will be conveyed to the people.

The dispute between Marathas and OBCs is raging over reservation and caste wise census is the only option to solve this issue. Nana Patole said that issues like reservation, farmers' issues etc. will be mainly raised in the campaign.
