In a major jolt to MVA government, Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari has sent a letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to face floor test and prove majority by convening a special session of state legislature at 11 am tomorrow, June 30. The letter further stated that the floor test should conclude by 5 pm itself.

This development came after BJP finally entered the ongoing political turmoil in the state with former chief minister and LoP Devendra Fadnavis, last night, met the governor at Raj Bhavan in south Mumbai. During this meet, Fadnavis submitted a letter to the governor demanding that the ruling coalition, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) – comprising of the Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress –  face a floor test as it has lost its majority, courtesy the Eknath Shinde-led rebellion against Thackeray.

He also claimed that the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress ruling coalition seemed to be in a minority as 39 Sena MLAs, who belong to the rebel faction led by cabinet minister Eknath Shinde, have said they do not support the government.

Soon after this came to light, Shiv Sena rebel Eknath Shinde also confirmed that he along with other MLAs will reach Mumbai tomorrow, June 30, to take the required legislative process forward. Shinde also said that they will meet the Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari upon his arrival.

While talking to reporters, Shinde said that he would go to Mumbai "soon" and "take Balasaheb Thackeray's legacy forward", indicating that he is ready to launch his next play and challenge Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to a test of strength.

On the other hand, a day earlier, Thackeray urged them to return to Mumbai and hold talks with him, saying it's not "too late", but rebel leader Shinde remained unmoved.
